Our company

The Muhanga Improved Local Technologies company (MILT) was established in 2015 with permanent female employees constituting 60% of all employees for producing Ceramic Water Filters and Improved Cook Stoves. This is based on government’s policy of empowering women and girls for promoting “made in Rwanda” and environmental protection.

Our products

At MILT, we are currently producing three high quality clay products at competitive prices, namely:

1. Ceramic Water Filters
2. Liners for Improved Cook Stoves
3. Burnt Bricks

Why Ceramic Water Filters and Improved Cook Stoves?

Among the environmental challenges in Rwanda and all over the world is the increasing pollution of atmosphere and deforestation caused to a considerable extent by the wide use of open firewood stoves for cooking and for boiling drinking water.

We at MILT have come out with a solution to this challenge. It is about fabrication and distribution of Improved Cook Stoves and Ceramic Water Filters. It is also a good opportunity of involving rural women in the process to earn an income and improve their livelihood.

Guaranteed quality

• Our Ceramic Water Filters are tested and certified to meet ISO 9002 Quality Standard.
• Our Improved Cook Stoves are tested and certified by the University of Makerere to have an efficiency of 29.4%

Our strategic partner

A progressive NGO in Rwanda called 'Rural Development Inter-diocesan Service (RDIS)', which among other projects is currently implementing a Carbon project by distributing improved cook stoves and ceramic water filters in Rwanda.
